Refractory
What is Refractory?
Refractory materials, also known as refractories, can withstand very high temperatures without weakening. These materials are used for the construction or lining of heat-containing vessels, such as industrial furnaces, boilers, and kilns.
Most Refractory work involves the repair and regular maintenance of refractories. Refractory masonry is a demanding branch of the BAC masonry trades, requiring extensive training. Work is frequently undertaken in confined spaces, amid hot and dusty conditions. As highly skilled tradespeople performing specialized techniques, refractory masons generally enjoy good pay and job demand.
