The Referral Process: How MAP Works
Active and retired union members and their families may call toll-free to speak confidentially to MAP’s licensed mental health professional, Dr. Karen Grear, at 1-888-880-8222. Calls are generally accepted from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Eastern Time Monday through Friday. While many calls are answered immediately, if Dr. Grear is responding to another call, members are given the option to leave a confidential voicemail message for a return call.
With the member’s permission, Dr. Grear does the legwork on behalf of the member by contacting insurance representatives and locating community referrals uniquely tailored to an individual’s specific situation and needs. MAP also assists uninsured members to connect with services.
